Special note
Synopsis Zygoma fixtures ad modum Br?ïnemark was developed for the management of atrophic posterior maxilla as an alternative to major grafting. Zygoma fixtures were shown to be highly predictable in rehabilitation of edentulous maxilla in medium term provided that at least two normal anterior implants were placed together with two posterior Zygoma fixtures and a fixed prosthesis could be connected immediately after stage-two surgery. When the Zygoma fixtures were first introduced, they should be placed under direct vision after raising an extensive mucoperiosteal flap via a Le Fort I Osteotomy incision under general anesthesia.
In the recent years, we have seen a global trend toward minimal invasiveness and immediate loading in implant dentistry. Nowadays it is also possible to perform virtual surgery with computer simulation based on computed tomographic images. With navigational surgery, it is possible to place Zygoma fixtures without raising an extensive flap and it is feasible to load the Zygoma fixtures immediately.
This two-day course will present the standard protocol for Zygoma fixtures, the modified approach for placement, and the method of immediate loading of the Zygoma fixtures
