Biomaterials research project
The dental biomaterials group, consisting of Dr. Peter Williams, Mr. Ken Chizick and myself was formed in the fall of 2001. Mr. Ken Chizick introduced me to staff at Swiss NF Metals and his existing working relationship with them was crucial in helping me secure funding from Swiss NF metals. Further contact was made in Chicago in February 2002. All required paperwork was completed prior to receiving the grant in April 2002. Zwick testing machine was calibrated and we received training. Testing jig was machined. Some of the samples received and more samples are on the way.
Caries diagnosis research
Dr. Peter Williams invited me to join the caries research project with Dr. Blaine Cleghorn and the NRC group. Dr. Cleghorn and I have selected teeth, photographed them, made standardized dental radiographs and completed the clinical and radiographic examination of 36 teeth for the in vitro study. We have all met with the NRC group on two occasions, kept up communication with them via email and reviewed the research proposal.
Clinical study
I prepared the patient consent form and reviewed research proposal. Funding has been received and the dental composite resin material has been received.
