The method involves fixing a hollow intermediate connection piece (9) on an external complimentary part of a tool (15). The tool equipped with the piece is positioned on an end of an implantable component (13) until the intermediate piece is detent on an external complimentary part of the component. The intermediate piece has two flanges (10, 11) defining a groove to cooperate with complementary part of the tool. An Independent claim is also included for a device for fixing a tool on one end of an implantable component.
