Talon¨? and Revere* being the only internally plasticized polymers available, will not leach out any discernable free monomer and is the safest of all acrylics tested. The compositions remain resilient at body temperature and are very comfortable to the patients without being too soft. Talon¨? and Revere* thermoplastic polymer compositions will not harden over time, have "memory" and will not warp under normal wear and care of the appliances.
Talon* can be occlusally laminated with methyl methacrylate using any brand of clear quick cure acrylic by the sprinkle method, fluid resin pour technique, or pressure packed using denture flasks or by heat cure with flasks, or utilizing the heat cure pressure packed pneumatic injection systems on the market today. Laminating Talon¨? with hard methyl methacrylate fulfills provider preferences for the patient's opposing teeth occluding on hard acrylic, as desired for treatment of symptoms related to parafunctional activity while embracing the comfort and instant fit of the Talon* appliance substructure which engages all available undercuts for retention.
Revere¨? thermoplastic polymer composition for lining complete and partial dentures and other desirable preferences has superior adherence to methacrylates, coupled with ease of fabrication, comfort, non-toxic internally plasticized composition, non-cadmium color additives, correct degree of resiliency, and ability to engage available undercuts without causing impingement on soft tissues. It also will not leach out plasticizing agents and will not harden over time, has "memory" and will not warp under normal care and handling instructions.
