Course Description:
Soft and hard tissue aesthetics around the teeth is a vital part of periodontal surgery. This course will focus on how suture techniques and soft tissue engineering can affect the outcome of periodontal procedures, including implant-supported prostheses. Use of Periodontal Plastic Surgery Techniques will also be stressed for optimal aesthetic outcome and facilitation of oral hygiene.
This course will include a didactic portion as well as a hands-on where participants will practice suture techniques on animal jaws.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will have learned:
To perform basic suturing techniques for optimum aesthetic results
Wound healing and physiological considerations at the cellular, molecular and clinical level
The basics of soft tissue engineering
Review suturing materials and instrumentation
