The invention is intended for use by healing professionals, in the odontological field and, in particular, for specialised dental implant treatment. An incision must be made in the patient's gum during one of the intermediate steps of the dental implant process in order to expose the pins implanted in the bone during the previous phase. The professional is absolutely certain of the spatial location of each of the above-mentioned pins and, in order to access said pins, an incision must be made in the healed gum surrounding same. The scalpel used for the aforementioned operation produces a longitudinal cut, the pins being circumferential, involving the cutting of tissue which is unnecessary for said purpose. The inventive circular scalpel offers the professional an enormous advantage in that the area affected by the incision is reduced to the minimum necessary in order to continue with the implant process. Said selective incision affords obvious advantages, namely: a smaller area of the gum is affected, the professional has greater control of the instrument, shorter healing time is involved, the impression can be taken and the incision made during the same visit (since the positioning elements block the capillary vessels affected by the incision) and the appearance of the scar in the area affected is improved.
