The MDRCBB is entirely an agent of the University of Minnesota, which is a public institution land-granted to the people of the State of Minnesota. The location of the MDRCBB is the School of Dentistry, which reflects the MDRCBB orientation, which is public health and education through the specialty of Dentistry.

The MDRCBB is a matrix of members and sponsors reflecting multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional resources. The governance and working agreements are in place. MDRCBB offers equality in governance between academia and industry. 50% of MDRCBB's effort meets the 3M Foundation mission in community affairs in public dental health, education and career development, and international and minority involvement. The remaining 50% is focussed on new dental technologies realized through cooperation with 3M Dental Products Division.

The MDRCBB has maintained a high profile and awareness in the dental, university and industrial communities and with the public. This involved the media (Newton's Apple), legislative committees, university regents, dental editors conference, and international visitors. We have produced several publications and abstracts during the last quinquennium.

We have formed alliances for research and educational purposes with:

SmithKline Beecham
SUNY at Buffalo Dental School
University of Missouri KC Dental School
AO Stiftung of Switzerland
MTS Systems Corp., Minnesota
NIH-NIDR Small Business (SBIR)
Arthur Andersen Consulting

The MDRCBB is entirely an agent of the University of Minnesota, which is a public institution land-granted to the people of the State of Minnesota. Our Center is located within the School of Dentistry and as such is committed to research, teaching and service through the specialty of Dentistry.

MDRCBB offers equality in governance between academia and industry. It cooperates closely with the 3M Foundation, in particular with its 3M Dental Products Division.
