Marquette University - School of Dentistry
The MUSoD Office for Research and Graduate Studies was founded in 1998. The mission of this office is "to promote academic excellence, facilitate faculty/student development, and advance integrative/interdisciplinary interactions within the University, surrounding academic institutions, and the community. Emphasis is placed on those initiatives that establish a unique niche and/or competitive advantage. These goals will be accomplished while maintaining cost/operational efficiencies and congruence with the institutional and University mission". This new emphasis represents a significant departure from past history. MUSoD, historically recognized as an excellent clinical institution, is seeking to add a nationally/internationally recognized academic and scholarly component to its profile. The comprehensive plan for this expansion and growth was derived from many different MUSoD and University documents/areas including the: 1) MUSoD Strategic Plan; 2) MUSoD Promotion and Tenure Document; 3) MU Sabbatical Policy; 4) MUSoD Faculty Development Plan; 5) MUSoD Student Research Group; 6) MUSoD Research Committee; 7) MUSoD Graduate Program Committee; 8) MUSoD Continuing Education Committee; 9) MU Research Centers; 10) MU Office of Research and Sponsored Programs; 11) MU Graduate School; and 12) MUSoD Office for Research and Graduate Studies.
The MUSoD Office of Research and Graduate Studies administers all research-related/scholarly activities, the Center for Orofacial Research and Education (CORE), the Wisconsin Geriatric Education Center (WGEC), the Student Research Group (SRG), all graduate programs (Endodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Dental Biomaterials, and Advanced Training in General Dentistry), faculty/staff development activities, continuing education activities, informatics/educational resources, the Graduate Program Committee, and the Research Committee.
Through the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, there are some unique opportunities available to MUSoD dental and graduate students. Some of these are available at no additional cost and do not add significant time to the length of the educational program. All inquiries should be directed to the MUSoD Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
