Vision :
The Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University is and advanced Dental Faculty with academic excellence. Dental service offered is complete, out standing and famous, being recognized at the national, regional and international levels. All the graduate produced are capable, responsible and have high moral.
Mission:
1. Produce graduates with high quality high moral, intelligent and innovative, willing to learn and have professional shill.
2. Render service and Facilitate good oral hygiene for the people.
3. Research and development of new innovation in dentistry.
4. Facilitate Thai arts and culture for the life style of the people.
Strategies:
1. Produce and develop Faculty staff to be professional with high moral and innovative, knowledgeable, capable and responsible person.
2. Support research that is useful to the people, with emphasis on indigenous knowledge and local resource immigration.
3. Facilitate service mechanism and promote oral health for the people to be famous and recognized by all.
4. Promote Thai arts and culture for natural leving.
Research Unit was first established in 1972 by the first Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University Professor Issara Yuktanun. Associate Professor Sukhum Thiradilok was the first director to set up the central laboratory facillities for supporting both basic and clinical dental research for the faculty. Associate Professor Nisa Jearapong , a third Dean of Faculty of Dentistry (1986 ÇƒÏ 1994), further supported the Research Unit by providing basic instruments required for dental research. The forth Dean, Professor Somsak Jakpaiwong (1995 ÇƒÏ 2000), strongly supported and expanded the facilities catched up to the international level.
The research unit obtained expensive instruments e.g. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Tissue culture laboratory. etc. During 2001 ÇƒÏ present, the fifth Dean, Associate Professor Sukhum Thiradilok also strongly support in research both instruments and also staffs. The Research Unit was therefore, changed to ǃ?Research Service Centerǃ? in order to be suitable with growing research areas. At present, Research Service Center provides central laboratory facilities both basic and applied research for students, post-graduate students, staffs in the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University and also provides service to those other universities.
