JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Two Jacksonville dentists are among the first in the country to offer "Teeth-in-an-Hour."
This month, doctors performed the first of its kind surgery on a Jacksonville man who has been wearing dentures for eight years and looking for a more permanent solution.
"It's not the same as having normal teeth," says Tim Kaufman. Kaufman underwent a full lower jaw restoration and was eating just minutes after his new teeth were implanted.
Gregory Hartley, D.M.D., and William Gielincki, Jr., D.D.S., joined forces for the first ever "Teeth-in-an-Hour" advanced dental implant surgery in Jacksonville.
"Not only is it the first surgery of its kind in Jacksonville," says Dr. Hartley. "It is one of the first few in the nation and definitely the first throughout the Southeast."
Until now, people looking for that perfect smile had few options: removable dentures, or the long, expensive process to install permanent dental implants and make the new teeth.
This new method was developed by Nobel Biocare. The keys are software that makes it possible to design a patient's prosthesis in advance and a plastic surgical guide that aids in precise positioning of the implants. The surgery takes only an hour under local anesthesia.
"This is revolutionary," says Dr. William Gielincki. "This procedure makes it possible for a busy executive to take a Monday off and have a whole new image on Tuesday."
"Teeth-in-an-Hour" implant patients range in age from their teens to their 90s. While the implant surgery is very new to the First Coast, you can expect to see more smiling people around town.
"They report a dramatic improvement in aesthetics, chewing ability, personal confidence and overall dental comfort."
