Implantology: Investment in the Future
Implantology can upgrade your dental practice for your patients' benefit - IDS 2005 will help you choose the right products.
total of 450,000 tooth implants were performed in Germany alone in 2003, and a further increase is expected in 2005. The International Dental Show (IDS) offers dentists the ideal forum for finding out more about this promising development in their sector. Here, they will find a comprehensive selection of implantation systems, surgical instruments, bone replacement materials, membranes and accessories. At IDS, which will be taking place in Halls 10, 13 and 14 on the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds in Cologne from 12th to 16th April 2005, they will be able to compare products and get detailed information at stands manned by experts from Germany and abroad.
Implantology is one of the most dynamically growing segments in the dental sector. Increasing numbers of patients are asking their dentists for dental implants, which will restore not only the comfortable chewing they are used to but also their youthful and attractive smiles. Today, the treatment of choice for patients who have lost a tooth is implantation or an implant-supported replacement tooth.
The success rates are encouraging: According to a survey conducted by the Association of German Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), around 450,000 tooth implants were performed in Germany in 2003. The dentists surveyed reported a loss rate of only 1.67 per cent. This demonstrates that dental implants are among the treatments with above-average durability. According to the survey, 81.6 per cent of the lost implants did not ǃ?takeǃ? in the initial healing phase before the superstructure could be constructed.
Dentists can benefit from the growing trend toward implantology by acquiring the necessary advanced qualification and establishing this special field as a focus of their practices. It's a great opportunity to enhance the attractiveness of their practice and offer their patients a future-oriented range of treatment.
A whole array of special implantation products are on the market, because the dental industry has closely collaborated with researchers to find solutions that fill all the needs of implantology. The range of products begins with bone replacement materials and instruments for restoring bone and raising the sinus floor. Also on offer are systems for treating individual teeth, creating permanent bridges and fixing complete dentures in place. Artificial tooth roots are available for quick implantation and immediate use or for implantation at a later date. Dentists who are looking for individual variants can choose from a number of dental constructions that are suited for treatment with zircon oxide superstructures. With these, they can provide the natural look of fully ceramic dentures that many patients demand.
ǃ?Whether you're attending the IDS as a beginner or a specialist in the area of dental implantology, at the exhibitors' stands you'll find the right contacts to answer all your questions in a professional dialogue. At the IDS in 2005 you'll find how to treat your patients whatever the problem ÇƒÏ whether it's a teenager who's lost a tooth in a sports accident or his grandparents who wish to chew comfortably in spite of gaps or missing teeth,ǃ? says Dr. Markus Heibach, Executive Director of the VDDI.
IDS, which takes place in Cologne every two years, is organized by the Association of German Dental Manufacturers, represented by the Society for the Promotion of the Dental Industry (GFDI). The trade fair is staged by Koelnmesse GmbH.
