One thing that many people have in common is that they get old. There is no way to stop it, regardless of how hard they try. People will do anything from using anti-wrinkle creams to buying fancy sports cars when they turn 50. Anything and everything can and will be done to maintain that ǃ?youngǃ? look and make people feel like they did when they were 20. As unfortunate as it may be getting old is inevitable, however that doesnǃÙt mean people canǃÙt still maintain a high self esteem about the way they look. The point is that many older people come to a point in their life where they become partially or fully edentulous. Losing teeth can be a traumatic experience for many people because they derive much of their self-confidence and overall happiness from the way they look. The good news is that this transition doesnǃÙt have to be an unpleasant one. Several different options exist for people (based on each particular case) such as: bridges, partial dentures, complete dentures or dental implants. All of which can look very good if properly selected for each individual situation. That being said we must also realise that not only older people are missing teeth. Many young people are missing teeth whether it is due to gross decay, trauma, periodontal disease or even congenitally missing teeth. The treatment options whether young or old are the same, however lately there has been a growing trend in the field of dental implants to replace part of or all of the natural dentition.
