Synopsis Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to :
- Benefit from CAD-CAM technology
- Routinely complete all-ceramic restorations (crowns, laminates, bridges)
- Utilize digital photography for improved communication with the technician
- Properly diagnose and prognose their implant cases.
- Perform immediate replacement with implants after extraction
- Reduce bone loss after implantation and improve soft tissue integration
Preliminary program NATURAL TEETH
Several all-ceramic systems have been developed over time to raise the aesthetic standards without jeopardizing strength and longevity. As in prosthetic dentistry, implant dentistry may also benefit from new CAD-CAM technology that utilizes highly sintered aluminum oxide and zirconia for the fabrication of cores and crowns. Recent developments have proven that anterior 3-unit metal-free bridges laminate veneers and implant abutments can be obtained with this technique in specific indications.
Through various clinical cases this presentation will stress the versatility of a Cad-Cam system and the strategy of utilization of the different restorative materials and coping thicknesses in order to predictably reach the highest esthetic standards.
Remote communication between dentist and ceramist, as well as the utilization of digital photography will be also stressed during the presentation.
IMPLANTS
In implant dentistry the aesthetic outcome is a result of several parameters :
- Hard tissue management to optimize the implant site
- Ideal morphology of the soft tissue and interdental papillae, which is primarily determined by the underlying osseous architecture and must be guided by the provisional restoration.
- Proper tridimensional positioning of the implant.
- Optimized emergence profile and cervical contour of the definitive restoration, which includes the choice, or fabrication, of an anatomical abutment.
Although the modality is technique sensitive and limited to specific oral prerequisites, the peri-implant structures may be maintained in immediate implant placement and tooth replacement. After reviewing relevant parameters for bone remodeling limitation and soft tissue integration, this presentation will also highlight the importance of transferring the emergence profile, obtained by adequately contouring the provisional crown, via customized impression copings.
Last but not least, a chapter will be devoted to the understanding of the biologic width and implant design and their role in the Soft-Tissue Integration.
