MONTREAL, May 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Capital Pro-Egaux Inc. ("Pro-Egaux"),
(TSX-V : CPE) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Technique
d'usinage Sinlab Inc. ("Sinlab"), will complete the second stage in the
development of its Technoguide patented product and StatDent concept. In line
with the growing market trend to shorten dental treatment time, this patented
innovation comes with a strong international potential. It will be remembered
that the first phase of the R&D project was carried out in collaboration with
the Montreal Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering Department and the National
Research Council of Canada (NRCC/IRAP program). In May 2003, during the
Montreal stage, supervised by Dr. Benjamin Saleh, an oral and maxillofacial
surgeon, real-life surgery successfully demonstrated the feasibility of the
concept. Technoguide together with the StatDent concept will allow the
simultaneous insertion of implants, of the Technobar (superstructure) and of
the dental prosthesis in a single clinical session, a treatment that, until
very recently, had to be spread over several days, weeks or even months.
The completion of this second stage of the project will be focussed
mainly on creating a product that can be used easily and safely, thus
minimizing the risks associated with current dental implant technology.
Consequently, there will be a significant reduction in actual treatment time
and in the number of treatment sessions. This stage will also include the
carrying out of clinical trials and the obtaining of Health Canada and FDA
certification, in order to allow marketing of the product in the spring of
2006.
The recent commercial successes of 3i Implant Innovations with regard to
the Technobar product suggest a promising future for Technoguide and the
StatDent concept. It may be noted that approximately 300,000 dental implant
surgeries were effected in North America in 2004. In the industrialized world
alone, it is estimated that more than 240 million people are at least one
tooth short while 10% of the population is fully edentulous. Of this number,
only 2% have received dental implants. At the present time there is a market
trend to a shortening of the time lag between the insertion of implants and of
a dental prosthesis. Our future product is in the very mainstream of this
trend. We estimate the potential world market for our product at over
US$ 600 million annually.
Pro-Egaux through its wholly owned subsidiary, Sinlab, is a company based
in Boisbriand, Quebec, specializing in the conception and design of products
used in the dental prosthesis restoration industry.
