About the Speaker
Dr. Danny Buser is Professor of Oral Surgery and Stomatology, and Chairman of the Department of Oral Surgery and Stomatology at the University of Berne.He is mainly involved in experimental and clinical research in the field of surface characteristics of endosseous implants and prospective clinical studies to evaluate the efficacy of dental implants. A second field of interest are bone augmentation procedures. He has authored or co authored more than 130 articles in international journals and textbooks. He served as President of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) in 1996/97. In the last 5 years, he received several scientific awards by professional organizations in Europe and the United States, among them the Andr» Schroeder Award (1995) by the Research Committee of the International Team for Oral Implabntology (ITI), the Osseointegration Foundation Research Award by the Academy of Osseointegration (AO), the Honorary Membership Award (1997) by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), and the Daniel M. Laskin Award by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). Currently, he is President of the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology (SSOI), and Secretary of the Swiss Society of Oral Surgery and Stomatology (SSOS).
