Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was started in 1969 under the banner of Association of Oral Surgeons of India (AOSI). Its founders included the late Dr MSN Ginwalla, Dr C.K. Dhanasekharan, Late Dr C.G. Raju, Late Dr.K. Ramachandran, Late Dr S.S. Khera and Dr A.P. Chitre.
The AOSI was officially affiliated to the International Association during the Sydney conference in 1977.
The AOSI was renamed as Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AOMSI) in 1985.
The AOMSI is a registered organization and admits qualified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as Life or Annual members. The Association is committed to the promotion of the specialty through its scientific deliberations and social causes. The Journal is called 'The Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery' and is the official publication of the Association. It is published four times a year from its office in Madurai.
