Aims of ADEE
The Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) was founded in 1975 as an independent European organisation representing academic dentistry and the community of dental educators. Since then, ADEE has played an important role by enhancing the quality of education, advancing the professional development of dental educators and supporting research in education and training of oral health personnel. This association brings together a broad-based membership across Europe comprised of dental schools, specialist societies and national associations concerned with dental education. ADEE is committed to the advancement of the highest level of health care for all people of Europe through its mission statements such as:
To promote the advancement and foster convergence towards high standards of dental education
To promote and help to co-ordinate peer review and quality assurance in dental education and training
To promote the development of assessment and examination methods
To promote exchange of staff, students and programmes
To disseminate knowledge and understanding on education
To provide a European link with other bodies concerned with education, particularly dental education
Privileges of Membership
The members are European university dental schools, specialist societies or other national dental bodies concerned with or related to dental education. The members of category 1 have the right to appoint two representatives who will be entitled to vote in the Legislative Body of the association i.e. the General Assembly of ADEE.
Moreover, the members may send as many delegates as they wish to the scientific meetings of ADEE. The delegates will receive a reduction in registration fee for the most important event of the year in Europe in dental education. The annual meeting of ADEE offers seminars, lectures, workshops, working groups, and poster sessions on current topics.
As a full paying member you will receive The European Journal of Dental Education. Published annually as 4 quarterly issues, the Journal seeks to disseminate widely the latest information on curriculum development, teaching methodologies, assessment techniques and quality assurance in dental undergraduate and postgraduate education and in training programmes for the professions complementary to dentistry. Whilst the Journal focuses on the European experience, its relevance and contributions are world wide.
The Directory of Members and European Dental Schools will be renewed and maintained on the ADEE web site and be available to all members of ADEE.
International Representation
ADEE is the European representative in the IFDEA (International Federation of Dental Education Association) which represents dental educators worldwide. As a member of ADEE you will be represented in all international meetings in which IFDEA participates to promote dental education.
