As any other implants, dental implants are exposed and can interact with their specific environment: bone, blood and saliva. From the large number of available materials available today only a few were selected for implants based on their low chemical reactivity with body fluids, absence of toxicity, biocompatibility and mechanical resistance. All these properties make the implant able to resist to corrosion caused by body fluids, maintains its integrity without releasing particles into the surrounding tissue and sustain and transfer loads. There are different materials used for dental implants like, austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum steels, cobalt-nickel-chromium alloys, titanium and its alloys, tantalum and niobium and their alloys, precious metals, ceramics and polymeric synthetics [1].
