President Mike Lewis and I are excited to invite you to the AcademyÌs first ever visit to beautiful New Mexico and to an outstanding meeting experience one of learning, fellowship and fun! Please join us March 5-9, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya on the tribal lands of the Native American Pueblo of Santa Ana. Located just 30 minutes north of the Albuquerque International Airport, the resort has March daytime temperatures of 60 to 70 degrees mixed with cool evenings. As a luxury resort and spa, there are unlimited activities including hot air ballooning, horseback riding, hiking, carriage rides, three outdoor heated pools, tennis, a championship golf course, and the ultimate spa to pamper yourself. Coupled with five restaurants and lounges (and numerous local restaurants) and beautiful views of the high desert with sunsets over the Sandia Mountains, this unique, magical setting will provide a perfect backdrop for our 52nd annual meeting.
The meeting will focus on many areas of personal and professional growth and Making a Difference in our lives and those that come to us for care. We want to highly encourage you to bring your spouse, team and colleagues, as the agenda will be perfect for all.
Chris Blackmore will kick-off our session on Wednesday evening. A nationally acclaimed magician, Chris has wowed audiences in Las Vegas, Reno and on TV. Through his use of comedy and amazing magic, he stirs the imagination and unlocks the mind to unlimited possibilities. He will inspire us about The Magic of Quality Service.
Our opening and closing speakers Carl Hammerschlag and Joan Borysenko are both mesmerizing. Dr. Carl Hammerschlag, author of The Dancing Healers is a master storyteller, internationally recognized author, speaker and healer. A Yale-trained psychiatrist, he has spent more than twenty years working with Native Americans, including fourteen years as chief of psychiatry at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
Trained as both a medical scientist and psychologist, Joan Borysenko, author of Minding the Body, Mending the Mind, earned a doctorate in medical sciences at Harvard Medical School, where she also completed post-doctoral fellowships in experimental pathology, behavioral medicine and psychoneuroimmunology. She was instructor in medicine at Howard until 1988.
They will present a view that in our fast-paced world of technology, itÌs easy to get overwhelmed and forget the healing power of mind and spirit. They will help us understand the transformational power that comes with a harmony between thoughts, actions and feelingsÛthe foundation of the science of mind-body-spirit medicine. Both will give us practical take-home lessons for living a healthy life and bringing more joy and pleasure to our lives and our practices.
Our third keynote speaker is Tom Crum, the author of The Magic of Conflict. He will use his amazing powers of Aikido to teach us how to have optimum levels of energy, performance and productivity. His energetic lecture will also emphasize how to turn conflict into real solutions and strong relations.
During our Members Breakfast our guests may listen to LeAnn Thieman. She has an incredible story to tell as she was at the forefront of the Vietnam Orphans Airlift as the communists were overtaking Saigon. As an ordinary person, she struggled through extraordinary circumstances and found the courage to succeed. She will inspire you to balance your life, live your priorities and make a difference in the world. Also presenting for our guests during this time will be Donna Brogan representing Philips Oral Healthcare. She will be speaking on WomenÌs Wellness: An Oral Health Perspective.
On both Thursday and Saturday afternoons you will have numerous choices for different workshops:
Ô Doug Young combines his corporate background, professional training and real-life experiences to provide a unique blend of leading-edge insights and practical wisdom. His workshops are always motivational, memorable and mind-expanding. He will challenge you to unleash your potential.
