2005 TEXAS Meeting - May 12-15, 2005 - San Antonio, Texas

Welcome to the 135th Annual Session of the Texas Dental Association. It is my privilege to serve as Chair of the 2005 TEXAS Meeting and on behalf of the Council on Annual Session, welcome to beautiful San Antonio and the premier dental meeting in Texas. The Council members have worked diligently to develop a first-class meeting to meet the educational needs of the entire dental team.
"The Mission: Excellence in Dental Education" is a fitting theme for the 2005 TEXAS Meeting. Each of you is a vital part of the dental team. It is our objective and the goal of each of the distinguished speakers for you to leave this meeting with new excitement, energy, and knowledge. We must recognize the importance of learning. Excellence in the dental profession begins with the education we receive. We are fortunate to have excellent dental schools with wonderful facilities, however we must recognize the importance of continuing education throughout our career as we strive to better our profession and ourselves. Abraham Lincoln once said, "I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday". I urge you to make the best use of your time by attending a wide selection of seminars, hands-on workshops and demonstrations. The TEXAS Meeting is a tremendous benefit of your TDA membership. There is no pre-registration fee for TDA members and staff.
The exhibit hall continues to expand and this year will become the largest in the history of the TEXAS Meeting. Over 450 exhibitors will display the latest in dental technology and materials. We cannot say enough about our exhibitors and sponsors. They help to improve the quality of our meeting each year. We could not have a world-class meeting without them, and we ask that you show your appreciation by taking advantage of special pricing offered by some of the vendors at this meeting only. Also, don't forget to join us for the Exhibit Hall Happy Hour on Thursday and Friday from 4pm - 6pm. There will be complimentary beverages for everyone.
The TEXAS Meeting is also a major social event with activities for the entire dental team. The TEXAS Party on Thursday evening will be taking on a new and exciting look. Come join us for music, food and fun! Also, The Second Annual Healthy Smiles Golf Tournament will be held Friday, May 13th, and will benefit the Texas Dentist for Healthy Smiles program. Last year's tournament was a huge success and this year will be even better.
The Council would also like to thank the TDA Staff and the Host Societies (1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th districts) for their help. The Host Societies have a major time commitment in hosting each of our clinicians and assisting with on-site logistics to make your TEXAS Meeting a memorable experience. The Texas Dental Association has the hardest working staff in the world. The hours they spend working for us every day is simply incredible, yet often goes unnoticed by many. To the staff, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are the best!
We are here to serve as your hosts for a wonderful conference. Our goal is to make this meeting the best you have ever attended. If there is anything we can do to help, look for the traditional "Red Coats" and let us know what we can do to assist you.
